Captain Luke Mooar
Luke N Mooar, was Captain of the boats on the Ohio River. He was born 4 June 1841 in Covington, Kentucky, the son of Luke N Mooar and Marietta Mitchell. His father, Luke was born 18 July 1808 in Hollis New Hampshire, the son of Jacob Mooar and Dorcus Hood. Luke died in New Palestine Ohio. His mother Marietta, often called Martha, was born in 1811 in Kentucky and she died in New Palestine.
Luke married Cornelia Ann Moore in 1870 in Cincinnati. She was born 24 October 1852 in Cincinnati, the daughter of Cornelius Moore and ---- Rhodes. By 1880 they were living in Newport and his occupation was listed as a Captain on a boat.
