ILLNESS CAUSES WOMAN TO END LIFE

Mrs. Louise Ulrich, 37, of Newport, Found Dead in Home By Husband Who Says She Was Despondent

Despondent because of ill health, Mrs. Louise Ulrich, 37, wife of Louis Ulrich, ended her life Monday afternoon at her home, 928 Ann st., Newport, by asphyxiation.

When the husband returned to his home Monday night, he was unable to gain entrance to his home, and finally forced a window. He detected the odor of gas and going to the living room, found his wife lying on a couch.  She had been dead several hours. Ulrich called a neighborhood physician, but his services were useless.

The physician notified Dr. Mathias Higgins, Campbell-co coroner, who rendered a verdict of suicide. Dr. Higgins learned Mrs. Ulrich had been in ill health and despondent for several weeks.

According to officials, the suicide was deliberately planned. Before turning on the death-dealing gas, Mrs. Ulrich stuffed all window cracks with paper and other material and thus kept the gas in the room.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
