One of the pleasant events of the past week was the surprise party tendered Lewis Ainsworth at his home, 923 Ann Street, Newport, on Saturday evening. Mary Ainsworth filed suit against Louis Ainsworth for alimony. They were married in May 1887, and have one child, Raymond, 15. She charges him with cruelty and says that he spent his earnings for drink. She alleges that because of his conduct she has been compelled to leave him.

Mary Ainsworth filed suit for divorce Friday, in Newport, against Louis Ainsworth. They were married in May 1887 and she charges that for some reason he has been very cruel to her, abandoning her in February of this year. She asks for the custody of their three children.

When Louis Ainsworth, 68, Ann St. Newport, was arraigned Friday in Newport Police Court for drunkenness, he presented an unusual excuse. "I had been our of work for a long time and Thursday, I finally landed a job and I thought a little celebration was due." Ainsworth told Judge Alfred G Maybury. "I'm sorry. I suppose I went a little too far with my celebration."
The court advised the defendant to refrain from further "celebration." His case was placed on open docket.

"Three days in jail will sober you two men, so I will assess the court costs." Acting Judge Charles Ciarlo declared Tuesday in Newport Police Court against Louis Ainsworth and Joseph Gaffney, both of Newport. They were charged with drunkenness.

Funeral services for Louis Ainsworth, a retired steamboat engineer, who died Monday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Kate Meisner, 1027 Ann Street, Newport, will be held at 10:30 am Friday, at the Fred A Erschell & Son funeral home, Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Ainsworth, who was 71, leaves Mrs. Meisner; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtie Herbert, and a son, Walter Ainsworth, both of Chicago, Ill. and another sister Miss Fannie Ainsworth, Newport.
