Louis Phillipe Achzehner was born 5 Sep 1835 in France and immigrated to the United States before the Civil War living in Missouri. When the war started, he joined the 1st Missouri Artillery on 13th Aug 1861 for the Union Army. He fought in battles on 31 Aug 1861, 8 Mar 1862 and 17 July 1864. He mustered out as a Sergeant on 13 Sep 1864.
After the war, he returned to St Louis and married Agatha Strub 21 Nov1868. Agatha Strub was born 13 Sep 1837 in France, the daughter of Valentine Strub and immigrated with the family in 1850.
