SEE THE WORLD-A letter was received Tuesday morning by the relatives of Leslie W Davis, son of Dr. F A Davis of Newport, stating that he had been transferred to the cruiser Baltimore and in a few days will start for a trip around the world. He is at present acting as master at arms and is doing well.

RETURNED-Leslie W Davis, son of the late Dr. F A Davis, who was in Newport for the past two weeks, returned to Brooklyn NY Wednesday night, where he will board the cruiser Baltimore. The Baltimore will leave Sept 1 for a three years cruise around the world.

DESERTED-A report was received in Newport Tuesday that Leslie Davis, a former well known had deserted from the battle ship Baltimore, stationed at Brooklyn a short time ago. His brother Fred, had not heard from him for some time and wrote a letter seeking information as to his whereabouts.
He received an answer that Davis, with 25 others, had deserted the navy and their whereabouts were unknown. He was popular in Newport and the news will be a surprise to his friends, if true.

VETERAN-A former resident of Newport, Sergeant Leslie W Davis, is seriously ill at the Government Hospital, Johnson City, Tenn. His brother, Leroy Davis is president of the Automatic Radio Co. of Indiana. Davis is a veteran of the Spanish American War and the World War, being wounded five times in the latter conflict.

HONOR VETERAN-A squad from the Ft Thomas Army Post was to fire a volley Monday afternoon over the grave of Sergeant Leslie Davis, 48, Spanish American and World War Veteran, who died in a government hospital at Johnson City Tenn. Davis was to be buried Monday at 2:30 pm with services at the Fred A Erschell & Sons funeral home, 227 E Sixth St. Newport. Burial was to e in Spring Grove Cemetery. Davis had been a resident of Newport nearly all his life. He is survived by his widow, a brother and two sisters.
