Judge Alfred G Maybury probated a $100 and costs fine and 50 day jail sentence given a 22 year old Newport resident when he was arraigned in that citys police court Wednesday on a charge of using fire arms in the city limits.
The defendant was Leonard Watson, 501 W Ninth street, a discharged war veteran. He was taken into custoday by Patrolman Krebs after neighbors complained of hearing three shots. Watson testified the shots were fired into the ground as he demonstrated use of the pistol to a friend. Police confiscated an automatic pistol they reported finding on Watson. Judge Maybury gave him a lecture on the proper use of firearms.

WATSON-Leonard J, beloved husband of Catherine Dryer Walston, dear father of Ralph Watson and son of Mrs. Eliza Watson, died at his residence, 929 Covington, Saturday, June 17, age 28 years. Services at the Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Robbis st. and Madison av. Covington, Wednesday, June 21 at 2 pm. Interment Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Geraldine Lancaster and Miss Wanda Monroe, both of Covington, appeared in Newport Police Court Tuesday on charges of accessory to murder. They were later charged with willful murder, along with a Newport couple, in the mystery death of Leonard Watson, Covington plumber.
