NEWPORT

HEART DISEASE-Coroner Tarvin yesterday returned a verdict of death from heart disease in the case of Jasper LeBoutillier, who died Friday afternoon while bathing in the Lagoon

The Coroner made a careful inquiry in this case on account of the peculiar circumstances connected with the sad event. The boy was five feet four inches in height and died in four feet of water.  He made not the slightest sound and his friends did not know of his death until they found that he was missing.

Dr. James Wise, with a couple of assistants, used heroic measures to resuscitate the boy after he had only been under water 20 minutes and the physician could not understand why the efforts proved futile, as he had successfully accomplished this feat in numerous instances where persons had been submerged for a much greater length of time.

There was but a small quantity of water in the boy's stomach and when the veins were opened for embalming purposes symptoms of heart disease were indicated.  Furthermore the boy's father, Dr. LeBoutillier had spoken to the boy's companions regarding Jasper, and asked them to watch him, as he was affected with heart trouble.
