A Mothers Day prayer, written and dedicated by Rev Lawrence Reisring, who returned to Newport, his native home, after having been interned by the Japs in the Philippines, will be read by the missionary priest at a special Mass at 7 am Sunday at Corpus Christi Church, Newport. The mass will be dedicated to all mothers, especially those who have sustained the loss of a son in the armed forces, Father Leisring said.
Father Leisring had served as a Catholic missionary in the Philippines for 17 years. He was captured by the Japs more than three years ago when the Nips invaded north Luson. He returned to Newport recently after being liberated by American forces.
