Miss LaWanda Raabe, a member of the Southgate Headquarters Company of the Dancers for Democracy, was guest of honor at a farewell surprise party given recently at the home of Mrs. Cletus Quaing, Evergreen Avenue.

Miss Raabe has enlisted with the Army Nursing Corps and received a commission as lieutenant. She will leave shortly to report for duty.

Miss LaWanda Raabe of Headquarters Company, Southgate, Dancers for Democracy, who has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corps, was introduced Thursday night at the semi-monthly dance given by the dancers at the Ft Thomas army post.

Second Lieutenant La Wanda Raabe, a member of the Army Nursing Corps is visiting her mother, Mrs. Albert E Meyer, 243 Linden Avenue, Southgate. Lieutenant Raabe is on leave from the Station Hospital at Camp Wheeler Ga. She is a graduate of the Nursing Training School of Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meyer of Linden Avenue, Southgate, formerly of Cincinnati, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lieutenant LaWanda Raabe, Army Nurses Corps to Lieutenant James H Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H Webb Sr. Atlanta Ga. Lieutenant Raabe is a graduate of Western Hills High School and of the School of Nursing of Good Samaritan Hospital. 

Following her graduation she entered the Nursing Corps. She is stationed overseas. Lieutenant Webb is on route to a foreign base.

James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion, now has its first woman veteran member of World War II. She is Mrs. Wanda Raabe Webb, former lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp. Her husband, James H Webb Jr. former Army captain, also joined the post Thursday night.
