Larry Lehy

NEWPORT
A STORY was extensively circulated up town yesterday to the
effect that a soldier from the Barracks had been killed in a saloon at the
corner of Bellevue and Isabella streets the night before.
A soldier named Larry Lehy, belonging to Lieutenant Riley's company, has been missing since Tuesday night, but the supposition is that he deserted and that the bloody tale mentioned above was told to cover his retreat for a day or two.
Nothing of a tragical character took place at the saloon named, except that a man was seized with a bleeding at the nose that night and spotted the floor considerably.
