Lafe Schneider

Kentucky State Journal, Thursday, February 3, 1887, page 3

Alexandria

Yesterday morning about 7 o'clock Lafe Schneider formerly employed as a farm hand on Stephen McVean's place in Kenton Co. was found dead in the hay loft of Alios Esban's Hotel.  He had been drinking very hard for the last five weeks and his best friends had no control of him.

During the Coroners inquest, there was found $5.00 in one of his stockings and he was badly bruised up by falling, etc. in his intoxicated condition.  We learn that he has several children near California that mourns his loss, his wife died some years ago.

At half past one o'clock the inquest was held by Squire James Bell and decided that it was caused by the excessive use of liquor.
