Karl C Raabe, Newport auto salesman and World War veteran announced Thursday his candidacy for Newport city commissioner. Mr. Raabe, son of the late Lawrence Raabe, Newport architect and contrator, promises to devote his entire time to the welfare of the city.

He is a life long resident of Newport and is a member of the American Legion Post No 11, the Newport Eagles and Elks. Mr. Raabe resides at 625 Monmouth street.

Karl Christian Raabe served as a Private First Class Marine during World War I. He enlisted 22 May 1917 in Cincinnati and was discharged 12 Mar 1919. He died 23 October 1962 in Newport and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
