Capt. Crapper Dies


Joshua T Crapper, an old river steamboat captain died yesterday at his home, 302 Fairfield av. Bellevue, after a lingering illness from locomtor ataxin.

Capt. Crapper was known to river men from Pittsburg to New Orleans and during his life had commanded such boats as the City of Louisville, Bostona and the Ohio. He moved to Bellevue from Manchester O. 12 years ago. During the Civil War he commanded his freighter Linney Drown, which was pressed into the Government service to transport Federal troops. His two sons, William and Ernst, are both river men.

He was 66, leaving a widow, the two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Nettie Connors. The funeral will be held from the residence, the interment being at Evergreen Cemetery. The time of the services has not been set.
