Despondent over ill health, Joseph Wright, 51, a veteran of World War I, ended his life Monday, slashing his throat with a safety razor blade in the bathroom of his home, 916 Roberts street, Newport. In givig a suicide verdict, Coroner Leo Sauter said he learned Mr. Wright was a disabled veteran having been gassed in the last war. He has been in failing health for some time, the coroner reported.

The victim was found by his sister in law, Mrs. Christina Wright, who lives at the Roberts street address. Taken to Speers Hospital by the Newport Life Saving Squad, the victim died an hour later.
