The Navy has called off the search for 176 missing servicemen, who were crew members of the destroyer Hobson, sunk Saturday night in a collision with the aircraft carrier Wasp in Atlantic maneuvers. Although the men were still listed officially as missing, Adm. Lynde d McCormick, commander in chief of the Atlantic fleet, said the search had been called off because “there was no possibility of any further survivors of the Hobson.”

Missing from northern Kentucky; Joseph M Walton, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan P Walton, 412 Hazen avenue, Bellevue. The Bellevue youth, machinist’s mate third class, had been transferred to the Hobson a month ago. He enlisted in the Navy four years ago after graduating from Bellevue High School.
