Joseph M Stevenson, 89, Civil War veteran, Newport, who died Thursday at Booth Hospital, Covington, after a brief illness of pneumonia, will be buried Saturday. Last rites will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 pm from the Ross Hickey Funeral Chapel, Milford. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
Stevenson participated in the battles of Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge and Chickamauga during the Civil War and was captured by Confederate troops at Ringgold Ga. during a skirmish. After the war Stevenson became a patrolman in Cincinnati. He retired 20 years ago. Recently he had been living at the Newport Hotel.
Surviving him are three sons, William, Newport, engineer; Joseph, Milford O. and Arthur, Rochester NY.
