Survivors of the Fifty-Third Kentucky Regiment, Civil War Veterans, met at Fourth and York sts. Newport, Tuesday evening, in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of their mustering out by Gen U S Grant.
Newport member of the regiment include George Creighton, William Woodard, Charles Solar and Joseph Sproats.

Joseph Henry Sprott was born 15 Nov 1841 in Philadelphia, Penn. the son of William and Maria. He married Anna Lydia Case. He died 28 Dec 1924 in Newport and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
