Requiem High Mass for Joseph Schmitz, 55, retired Newport fireman, will be sung at the Immaculate Conception Church, Newport, at 10 am Tuesday. Burial will be in St Stephen Cemetery. Mr. Schmitz, a veteran of World War I, died Friday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Ft Thomas. He lived at 557 E Fourth street, Newport.
He was a member of Newport Eagles, James Wallace Costigan Post, Americn Legion, Sixth Ward Boosters and the 337th Machine Gun Club, Inc. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Schmitz; a son, Jerome, a daughter Rita; three brothers, John, Theodore and Paul Schmitz; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Steffen and Mrs. Elizabeth Dowd, all of Newport and a grandchild.
