J B Quinby Dead

J B Quinby died at midnight at his home on Sixth st. Dayton Ky. He was 63 and had been ill for about three years and a half from paralysis. Mr. Quinby was born in Portland, Maine, in 1826. He came to Cincinnati and entered journalism, securing a position on the old Cincinnati Times under Mr. Starbuck in 1861.

Shortly afterward he enlisted in the army, joined the 138th regiment O V L Company D, under Capt. Boyce. During his service in the army, he wrote under the name non de plume of "Crescent." His letters were widely read and upon his return home, "Crescent" received an ovation. He leaves a wife and several sons.
