A World War I veteran Joseph Gonding Sr. was installed as commander of Edward W Boers Post No 153, American Legion, Bellevue and Dayton at the meeting recently at Bellevue City Hall. Mr. Gonding lives at 1109 Fifth avenue Dayton. He is a charter member of Boers post, having served in France with the 15th Field Artillery, Second Division in the first World War.
A son, Joseph Gonding Jr. recently discharged from the Navy after service as a pharmacist's mate, second class, also is a member of the Boers post. Other officers installed this week include;
Edward Bary, senior vice-commander; Chester Campbell, first junior vice-commander; Walter O'Bryant, second junior vice commander; Artie Kendall, adjutant; Rev Neil Annable, chaplain; Herbert Crail, sergeant at arms; W Harry Lauder, historian; Lawrence Farmer, finance officer and Carl Koehler, service officer. The Boers post meets on the first and third Tuesday each month. WAVES, WACS and lady marines are eligible for full and equal membership with men in the Americn Legion and have been invited to join.
