ILLNESS FATAL
Newport Delicatessen Owner Called; Rites Monday
Joseph A. Widrig, 59, delicatessen store operator, died late Thursday at his home, 128 E. Eighth st. Newport, following a lingering illness. Mr. Widrig, a lifelong resident of Newport, had operated a delicatessen at the Eighth-st. address for the past 25 years, and was widely known.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma C. Widrig, and seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Bradley, Cincinnati; Mrs. Lucy Smith, Bellevue; Mrs. Leona Evans, Union City, Ind.; Mrs. Otilla Klaas, Mrs. Clara Mason, Mrs. Ann Murphy and Mrs. Rose Collins; all of Newport. He was brother-in-law of David Murphy, Newport city detective, and Charles Collins, patrolman and turnkey.
Funeral services are to be held Monday at the home, with requiem high mass at 9 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
William G. Betz Sons, Newport undertakers, are in charge of the funeral.
