John Wesley Secrist

John W Secrist, 1021 Washington avenue, Newport, has entered the primary race for one of the eight nomination posts for Newport city commissioner. Mr. Secrist is a World War veteran, having served with the first contingents of the American Expertitionary Forces and was wounded in battle. In his declaration Mr. Secrist said:
"My training and army service has taught me to respect the rights of others and to give thoughtful consideration to their opinions. I am allied with no group and have no special intersts to represent.

John Wesley Secrist died 25 Aug 1950 in Newport and was buried in Evergreen.
