John Andrew Southall, Civil War fighter and one of the oldest men in Campbell county, died Thursday at the home of his son, William Southall of Mentor, Ky. Mr. Southall was 92 and a retired farmer. Several years ago he fashioned his own casket out of cypress wood and has kept it at home for his burial.

Known as one of the kindest men in the vincinity of Mentor, he helped many of its leading citizens get their start. A member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years, Mr. Southall came to Campbell county from Charlottesville Va. Special funeral services will be held by the Knights of Pythias lodge, of which he was a member at the Flagg Springs Baptist Cemetery at 10:30 am Sunday.

Besides his son, William, he also leaves another son, John Southall of Mentor. T P White is in charge of funeral arrangements.
