John Wesley and Margaret Secrist
John Wesley Secrist was born 29 Dec 1840 in Cincinnati, the son of Henry and Marguerite. He enlisted in the Union Army serving in the 139th Ohio Infantry. The 139th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio, and mustered in May 11, 1864, for 100 days service under the command of Colonel Jacob Lloyd Wayne, Jr.. The regiment left Ohio for Washington, D.C., May 20, then moved to Point Lookout, Maryland, June 1, and was assigned to prison guard duty there August 22. The 139th Ohio Infantry mustered out of service August 26, 1864.
He married Margaret Green in 1864. Margaret was born 10 Sep 1845 in Cincinnati, the daughter of Columbus Green and --- Wellman. She died 17 Apr 1917 in Dayton Ky. and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. John W Secrist died 21 June 1910 in Ft Thomas and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
John filed for an invalid pension on 7 Nov 1890 and after he died, Margaret filed for widow's benefits on 5 July 1910.
