John C. Schroll, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, was born August 20, 1845, a
son of Martin and Dorothea (Fleckenstein) Schroll, natives of Bavaria,
Germany. Martin Schroll immigrated to Cincinnati in 1840, where he
engaged in marble and free stone business, but moved to Newport in 1848,
where he engaged in the same business several years.
John C. Schroll was educated in Newport, and worked in and carried on the stone business until 1869, when he began the study of law; attended the Cincinnati Law School in 1869-70, where he graduated in 1871.
In 1874 he was elected circuit clerk of Campbell County, which office he has held continuously since, his present term expiring in 1892.
May 5, 1870, he married Miss Martha Band, of Newport, and seven children have blessed their union.
