John "Sass" Sarsfield, 11th and Brighton streets, Newport, announced his candidacy for constable in the First Magisterial District, which comprises the Second, Fourth and Sixth Wards in Newport.
Mr. Sarsfield, a veteran of World War I is entered on the Republican ticket.
