John Ludtman

NEWPORT
A young German named John Ludtman went into the Licking River, a
short distance above Livzey's saw mill, about seven o'clock on Sunday evening,
for the purpose of bathing. He was observed to wade into the water a short
distance and then, all of a sudden, disappeared and was not seen again until his
dead body was found an hour afterward.
Esquire I B Payne held an inquest on the remains. A verdict of accidental downing was returned. Deceased was about eighteen years of age and resided in Cincinnati. he was employed as a salesman in a grocery store on Main street.
