John R Livingston was born 22 June 1836 in County Downs, Ireland and
immigrated to Newport by 1851 where he was a volunteer in the
Washington
Fire Engine and Hose Company No 1. He married Catharine Lester 7 Nov
1855 in Newport. Catharine Lester was born 24 Nov 1839 in Ireland and died 24
Feb 1906 in Newport, immigrating to America in 1853 arriving in New York on
November 18. She was buried at St. Stephens Cemetery 26 Feb 1906.
John R died 1 Dec 1891 in Newport and was buried at St. Stephens Cemetery 3 Dec
1891.

The funeral of the late John Livingston took place yesterday morning from the Church of the Immaculate Conception and was largely attended. The pastor Rev Father McNerney conducted the services and celebrated solemn requiem mass, after which the remains were taken to St Stephen Cemetery at Four Mile for interment. The pall bearers were Thomas Cottingham, T P Bodkin, William Tinneran, Richard Barrett, James Wallace, Dennis Flynn, Thomas Cook and Thomas Hanlon.
