In the Circuit Court at Alexandria Tuesday, Clark Baker, charged with the murder of John Laury, was acquitted. Baker was tried three times for the same offense. In the first trial the jury disagreed. In the second trial a verdict of six months in jail and a $1000 fine was secured. Upon a technicality he was given a new trial and a verdict of not guilty was brought in by the jury.
The killing dates back about two years. Lowry was found dead at Grant's Lick, evidently having been struck with some blunt instrument. Clark "Bud" Baker was charged with the crime.
