NEWPORT
On Thursday night, Mr. John Knok, a well known and highly
esteemed German citizen, who lives in the Cold Spring district, stopped at the
tavern of William Fahrenholz, at Cold Spring, six miles from the city, and
concluded to stay the night rather than continue his way home in the dark.
He expressed himself as in his usual health before retiring but yesterday morning was found dead in his bed. The Coroner was summoned, and after a thorough inquiry, rendered a verdict of death from a paralytic stroke.
