NEWPORT
Mr. JOHN J THOMAS, a highly esteemed citizen of this county, died
at his residence at Twelve Mile yesterday morning. The deceased filled the
office of the County Clerk and was for a number of years identified with the
steamboat interests of the West.
His death has cast a gloom over a large circle of friends.
