A GOOD MAN GONE
Ex-Councilman John D Humphreys, whose serious illness had been
noted in these columns, died Monday evening at his home on Eighth Avenue,
Dayton, of typhoid fever. He was 39 years of age and leaves a widow and three
children, Grace, John and Howard. Mr. Humphreys was one of Dayton's best
citizens and was respected by all.
He was a member of the Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge of the om? Reed Club and a consistent member of Tower Chapel M E Church. He was a brother in law of Congressman Jacob Bromwell. He was engaged in the wholesale grocery business in Cincinnati.
The city officials will hold a meeting tonight at No 5 Sixth Avenue to take action upon the death of Hon J D Humphreys.
