The funeral of Mrs. J (Rose) Hoadley, 69, who died at the home of her son, 637 Monmouth st. Newport, will take place Thursday morning at 8 am with services at the Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Hoadley was the widow of John Hoadley, a veteran of the Civil War.

John Hoadley was born 16 Oct 1844 in Cincinnati, the son of John and Sarah. He enlisted in the Union Army 21 Feb 1863 in Peoria Illinois, serving in the 14th Illinois Cavalry. He was discharged 31 July 1865. He married his first wife, Martha Walkey in Tennessee, moving to Newport by 1880. John married his second wife Rose Reinhold in Newport in 1887. He was admitted to the Soldiers Home in Dayton Oh 8 Sep 1909 but was back in Newport where he died 20 Sep 1909. He was buried in Evergreen.
