Services for Dr. John Hadley Caldwell, 78, physician in Newport for more than 50 years, will be held at 23 pm Friday at the Vonderhaar & Stetter funeral home, Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.  Dr. Caldwell died lat Tuesday at Book Hospital, Covington, where he had been admitted several weeks ago.

A native of Claryville, Campbell county, he graduated in 1906 from the Ohio Medical School and completed his intership at the old Good Samaritain Hospital in downtown Cincinnati. His offices were at Eighth and Monmouth streets and his home at 640 Park avenue. He received a 50 year service pin and certificate at a dinner meeting of the Campbell Kenton Medical Society. He was a member of the Southern Medical Association; the American College of Surgeons; First Presbyterian Church, Newport and Robert Burns Lodge, F&AM Newport.

He leaves his widow, Dr. Ida Westlake Caldwell, and a brother, Frank A, Buffalo NY. Dr. Ida Caldwell, who formerly practiced with her husband, has been ill in Booth Hospital since June 15 and is reported in poor condition. Another brother, Dr. J Asher Caldwell, formerly practiced in Southgate and died several years ago.
