Grothaus, 62, of Newport, Succumbs After Illness
John Henry Grothaus, 62, former Covington city councilman, died Thursday at his home, 719 Linden Ave, Newport; following an illness of three weeks. Grothaus had been a lifelong resident of northern Kentucky and was widely known. He served several terms as a Covington councilman. For the past 23 years he had resided in Newport.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward Decker; three sons, Roman, Fred and Cyril Grothaus, all of Newport; and one sister Mrs. Frank Henkel, of Memphis, Tenn. Funeral services for Grothaus will be held Saturday morning, with requiem high mass at St Stephen Church, Newport. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery.
Muehlenkamp, Costigan & Roll Newport undertakers, have charge of the funeral.
