John Fuggitt

Kentucky Post, Saturday, 10 March 1917, page 1

Campbell co. officials have been asked to investigate the plight of the family of John Fuggitt, who, citizens have reported, is stranded on the banks of the Ohio river at California Ky. The family had been living on a shanty boat at California several weeks ago. When the river became full of ice the boat was wrecked and the family lost all of it furniture. Since that time they have been camping on the river bank.

A month of babe also has been forced to sleep without adequate protection, together with other members of the family. The case was first reported to Miss Estelle Tressler, Newport's community nurse, who in turn asked member of the family be housed in the county infirmary. County patrolman William Manwaring was sent to California to take the couple to Newport.
