All that was mortal of the late John F Pryor was laid to rest at St Stephen Cemetery Tuesday morning. The funeral cortege was large and the floral tributes filled two vehicles. Lafayette Council, YMI held their services Tuesday morning at the home and marched to the church. Requiem high mass was celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. At the grave, Newport Lodge of Elks held their services, followed by the Elks Quartet, Charles and Ed Remme, Joseph D Hengelbrook and George Quehl.
The pallbearers were eight nephews of the deceased, John Morris and Will Richmond, John, Dave and Morris Kearney, Harry and John Hollmeyer. Four honorary pall bearers from the Elks Lodge, two from the WMI and two from the Royal Areanum and two from the Newport Bowling Club assisted in the ceremonies. The Elks and YMI visited the home Monday night in a body.
