John Fisk

Cincinnati Daily Enquirer, Friday, 16 August 1861, page 3

About five o'clock yesterday morning a gentleman named John Fisk of Alexandria, in company with several gentlemen, started on a hunting excursion several miles distant from that burg, in a two horse wagon.

On ascending a hill not far from the town, one of the horse was taken with the "studs" and would not budge an inch further. Using the persuavive policy, Mr. Fisk got out of the wagon, went behind it and began to push.

While doing so, his gun, which rested against the seat, slipped down the hammer of the lock, striking against the forward part of the wagon, making a discharge, the contents taking effect in his neck and arm. He returned to Alexandria where medical aid was rendered.
