NEWPORT
John F Davis, ex-City Assessor, died yesterday morning at his
home, 836 Saratoga street. Mr. Davis was United States Storekeeper under the
administration of President Harrison.
He was a member of Noah Dove Lodge, LOOF, William Nelson Post, GAR and the famous "Thirteen Club" an organization of the local Lodge of Odd Fellows. He was 61 years of age, married and leaves a wife and four children.
The funeral will take place Friday at 1:30 pm, Revs McCready and Whitehead officiating. The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Davis was also a member of Noah's Dove Encampment and the lodge will hold a special meeting tonight to take action on his death.
