John Nelson, of the
County of Spotsylvania and State of Virginia, do by these presents make
constitute and appoint my friend, James Taylor of this County of Campbell and
state of Kentucky to be my true and lawful attorney for the purposes of
attending to all Military land Claims I have or may be entitled to either in
the said State of Kentucky or in the United States territory North west the
Ohio, but particularly to two thousand acres of land located in the Bounds of
the land set apart for the satisfaction of the officers & Soldiers in the said
State & on the South side of Green river and also to have the said land
secured if anything is necessary to be still done and also to have located &
secured any lot or lots I may be entitled to in any town to laid off in the
said territory or else where as an officer of the said United States.

The last will and testament of John Nelson, dec'd. was presented to Court and proved by the oaths of Zachariah Moore and Edwin Morin, two of the subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Covington Nelson, one of the executors therein named who made oath and together with Richard Nelson and Edward Moring, his securities entered into and acknowledged bond in the sum of Five hundred pounds conditioned as the law directs Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate in due form.
Ordered that Zachariah Moore, Elijah Herndon,
Edward Morin and William Thompson or any three of them being first sworn before
a justice of the peace of this County do appraise in Current money, the slaves
(if any) and personal estate of John Nelson, dec'd.
and return a report thereof to Court.

G Lindsey, Elijah Herndon and George West be appointed Commissioners to settle
with him as the executors of John Nelson,
deceased and that they do also divide all the undivided lands of said deceased
among his heirs and legal representatives.

Deed made 28 December 1837 between Covington Nelson and
Mary, his wife and Richard Nelson and James Hubbard and Frances, his wife who
are the heirs and legal representatives of John
Nelson, deceased, all of the County of Campbell of the one part and Cary
K Daniel of the same County of the other part. Party of the first part for
and in consideration of land situated in the County of Campbell on the waters of
12 mile creek containing 113 acres.
