John Eedy

John Eedy, 38, an employe of the Newport city stables and living
on West Fifth-st. near Brighton, Newport, was probably fatally injured this noon
when he was struck by a Patterson street car at Tenth and York-sts. Newport.
Eedy is slightly deaf and was crossing the street at that hour when the car bore down upon him. He was dragged about 80 feet before the car stopped. Dr. Edward Buten, who lives nearby, was coming out of his residence as the accident occurred. He gave the man immediate attention and found that the man's skull was fractured, his hip badly lacerated and several severe gashes on the head.
A Sister of Charity, who witnessed the accident asked that the man be taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital. The Newport patrol was called, but was so long in reaching the scene that Erschell's ambulance was called and the man taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Covington. The man was unconscious and will probably die.
