As an omen of good luck, John B Drahmann, master commissioner under Circuit Judge Ray L Murphy, selected Monday the sixth birthday anniversary of his daughter Kay, to anounce his candidacy for Campbell Circuit Court clerk on the Democratic ticket.

A veteran of World War I during which he saw service in France and German, Mr. Drahmann is affilliated with the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars and with various civic, fraternal and social groups. For many years he was connected with the Otto Depenbrock Grocery Co. Mr. Drahmann is a director of the Campbell County Infantile paralysis Committee and chairman of the program for eye conservation sponsored by the Newport Lions Club.

Mr. Drahmann has been a resident of Campbell county for 36 years and resides with his wife and two children at 155 Riverside parkway, Ft Thomas.

John B Drahmann, Campbell Circuit Court clerk and for more than three decades as the county's best known Democractic leader, is dead. Mr. Drahmann, 62, died late Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, where he had been admitted Monday for observation of a recurring heart condition. He suffered a heart attack several years ago and never had quite recovered. He lived at 135 Highland avenue, Ft Thomas.

Services will be held at 10 am Friday at the Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft Thomas, where friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Thursday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Drahmann was in his third term as Circuit Court Clerk, having been elected first time in 1945 and re-elected in 1951 and 1957. Before that he served as Campbell County master commissioner and as a deputy U.S. Marshall for eastern Kentucky.

A Veteran of World War I, Mr. Drahmann saw service in France, Luxembourg and Germany during that conflict. For many years he was active in both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was connected with the Otto Depenbrok Grocery Co. a number of years, and also was associated with a real estate and brokerage firm before his political career.

He served from 1937 to 1940 as deputy U.S. Marshall an appointment recommended by Rep Brent Spence and the late Sens. Alben W Barkley and M M Logan. In 1940, Drahmann was named master commissioner by the late Judge Roger L Neff Jr. and was re-appointed later by Judge L Murphy.

He leaves his widow, Virginia Shaw Drahmann, two daughters, Kay, a student at the University of Kentucky and Susan, senior at Highlands High School; a brother, Edward of Cincinnati and two sisters, Mrs. Stanley Krumer of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Lee Miller of Ft Thomas.

Page 4-The death of John B Drahmann, Campbell County Circuit Court Clerk, takes from the community one of the most popular officials in northern Kentucky. Mr. Drahmann was a friend for years of the late Sen. Alben W Barkley, a Deomocrat in politics and one who served as a deputy U.S. marshall by appointment through the late senator, prior to his being named master commissioner and later entering the campaign for the Circuit Court clerkship, which he held for 13 years.
