S Sgt. John Brodwolf, 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brodwolf, of 523 E Second street, Newport, died of wounds Feb 10 on Luzon Island, according to a War Department telegram received by his family. An infantryman, Sgt Brodwolf, a member of the Cyclone Division, entered the service in Apr 1941 and was sent overseas in December 1943.
A former student of Newport High School, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Miller and Mrs. Douglas Wallingford, both of Newport.

Services for S Sgt. John F Brodwolf, son of Mr. and Mrs.. Fred H Brodwolf, 207 Park avenue, Newport, will be held at the Fred A Erschell funeral home, Newport, at 2:30 pm Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. S Sgt. Brodwolf was killed in action on Luzon, Philippine Islands, Feb 10, 1945. He was a member of Company H, 149th Infantry 38th Division.
He was an outstanding athlete at Newport High School and an employee of the Donaldson Art Sign Co. Lawler-Hanlon Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will hold military services at the cemetery.
