JOHN BEAGLE was born 19 Jan 1801 near Germantown, Mason Co Kentucky, and died 5 May 1888. He married Eliza Kennedy Beall on 23 Dec 1834. They were born of this marriage five sons and one daughter. All living except S Kennedy Beagle, who was slain in the battle of Mt Sterling, belonging to John Morgan's command.
After the decease of his wife, 29 Apr 1861, he lived with his daughter Mrs. M E Boyers for a number of years. He son Lafayette is renting his farm lying on the river above Beallmont. Mr. Beagle lived with him for some time. he then went to his daughter, who resided near Alexandria, where he remained until his death. He has two sons, William Broadus and John A, minister of prominence and usefulness of the M E South in Missouri. His oldest son T Warren is a Baptist preacher who has filled several prominent pulpits in Indiana and in the Blue Grass region of Kentucky.
Mr. Beagle and his wife united with the Baptist Church and continued their membership with the Flagg Spring Church during life. He was a farmer and he secured a competency for his old age. He succeeded in affording good opportunities for the educational advantages to his children. He was uniform in temperament and habits and throughout a long and honored life was honored by persons of all stations and ages who knew him. He had been a great sufferer for years which finally wore out a splendid constitution. In stature he was well formed, six feet one inch in height and very erect. He lived a quiet life, was a humble Christian in conduct and an old timed gentleman in bearing. His death was peaceful and in full hope of a blessed impartiality; thus has passed away an aged citizen, a respected father and a man of sterling integrity. Rev J M Jolly preached an appropriate sermon before a very large audience and his remains were entered in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Peace to the ashes of this noble citizen and man of God.
