Miss Jessie Bowers, who for years has been one of the best teachers in the public school of Newport, died at the Seaton Hospital in Cincinnati, Sunday morning, where she had gone to have an operation performed. She had been ailing for years, but being active and ambitious, she continued her duties until the last.
The neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bowers extend their most heartfelt sympathy to them in this, their hour of trouble. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

The remains of the late Miss Jessie Bowers, who died Monday at the hospital in Cincinnati, will be cremated. She had often expressed her wish that her remains be cremated after her death and it will be respected. She was a prominent school teacher in Newport.

The funeral of the late Miss Jessie Bowers were held on Tuesday
afternoon at the home on Columbia street Newport. she was a school teacher in the public
schools and nearly all the teachers were present. There was no minister present,
but Prof. John Burke, Superintendent of Schools, delivered a talk over the
remains.
He paid a glowing tribute to the woman, who was popular among all the teachers and children. The remains were then taken by Undertaker Erschell to the Crematory in Cincinnati.
