The funeral of Rev Jeremy Babin occurred Monday, December 1 at 2 pm Newport Ky. Rev James M Collins, assistant minister of Christ Church, Cincinnati Ohio, had charge of the service.

Rev J Babin was born July 18, 1837 at St John, Quebec. Educated at Lenoxville and McGill University, he entered the ministry of the Church of England in Canada in the diocese of Montreal. Early in his ministry he married Miss E B Abbott, niece of Sir John Abbott, Premier of Canada. Two children were born to them, Alice and Maud Abbott, of Montreal, Canada.

Upon the death of Mrs. Babin, after the birth of the second daughter, Rev Babin removed to Louisville Ky. leaving his children in care of their grandmother, who ultimately adopted them. At Louisville Rev Babin entered the Dr. Moore private school as assistant. He was married again April 17, 1873, to Miss Kate Moore, daughter of Dr. Henry Moore. Some years later Rev Babin and family removed to Newport Ky. and he engaged himself as assistant to Mr. Bliss in his school for boys at 148 E Fourth st. Cincinnati, Ohio.

Upon the retirement of Mr. Bliss, Rev Babin assumed charge of the school and has been acting as principal and owner of the Cincinnati Collegiate School for the last 35 years. In his home six children were born, who are still living. His second wife died January 17, 1901.

Rev Babin was active in many social and municipal interests and clubs. He was was well known by many of the old friends of Cincinnati. The six children who survive him are; Mrs. G R Collord, of Mt Washington Ohio; Mrs. Will Jamison of Chicago Ill.; Mrs. Fred Babin of Newport Ky. Mrs. Bert Janus of Chicago, Ill. Rev Harry M Babin of Marshalltown Iowa, and Mr. Lewis Babin of Chicago. Sixteen grandchildren also survive to mourn him.

A faithful father, an enthusiastic citizen, a stanch friend, an excellent scholar, may light perpetual shine upon him.
