Marian “Jean” Romo, born December 24, 1930, died April 7, 2023. Ms. Romo was preceded in death by her parents, Ben H. Pumphrey and Laura Ellen Pumphrey (Hardin); her son, John Stephan Romo, her brother, Ben Henry Pumphrey II (Viola), her sister, Mary Ellen Lucas (William), and her nephew, Ben Henry Pumphrey III. She is survived by her nieces, Laura Nell Conley (Pat) and Denise Jansen, and her nephews, Timothy Lucas (Jane) and William Lucas; and all her great and great-great nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her caregivers, Cathy Collins, David Brown and Susan Campbell.

Ms. Romo received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in 1951, a Master’s Degree from the University in 1956, and her Rank 1 From Northern Kentucky University in 1957. She began teaching in 1958 in the Campbell County School District and retired in 1995 after 37 years in the district. During her career, she taught Biology and Spanish, as well as, sponsored cheerleading squads for many years. She was active in the Church of Christ of Alexandria. She had a lifelong love of teaching and the study of animals and nature. By taking her nieces and nephews on field trips to the Cincinnati Zoo, she was able to share these with them.

Note: Jean was a long time member of the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society in Alexandria and along with Elizabeth Clem, started the Veterans Collection.
