James Rooney Reed was born 4 Feb 1832 in Pennsylvania, the son of George Reed and --- Rooney. When the Civil War started James enlisted 4 Aug 1862 and served in the 54th Kentucky Cavalry. James was mustered out 19 May 1865. He married Marguerite Cumber 31 Oct 1865 in Augusta. Marguerite Cumber, was born 3 June 1845 in Augusta, Bracken Co Ky. the daughter of Thomas Cumber and Emma Murray.
