Jane Bell
Kentucky Post, Monday, 5 January 1903, page 1
Word reached Newport Saturday that a fatal accident occurred at
Grants Lick to Mrs. Jane Bell, 65, and that she died without regaining
consciousness. She was with her daughter, Lizzie Bell, and they were on their
way to Grants Lick, where they resided, 20 miles south of Newport.
Friday evening they attempted to ford Plum Creek and their wagon upset. The daughter succeeded in getting the mother to shore, and other help was soon at hand, but the woman expired soon after from the shock.
