The proposition to sue the Street Railway Company for damages to the Newport ladder truck in the collision of last Friday night will be carried out. Mayor Helmbold has instructed City Attorney James Thornton to proceed against the company. The attorney is preparing the suit which will allege carelessness on the part of the motorman and that the car was running at such a high rate of speed it was impossible for the motorman to check the car in time to avert the accident.

The proposed ordinance for the sale of an electric light franchise was gone over again last night at a meeting of Newport, General Council. The ordinance was turned over to City Attorney Thornton to be put in legal form and will be put on its passage next week.
